Dresdner Hütte in the Stubai Alps, Austria

Overcoming the challenge of long-term frost

  • Buildings constructed in 1875
  • Location: Stubai Alps
  • New heating system to provide hot water
  • Collector area: 30m²
  • Came into operation: February 2009

Winter temperatures can fall below minus 30°C here. By installing an XL solar thermal system on the roof of the Dresdner Hütte, Paradigma has set new standards for the functional safety of such large-scale systems. Now they can be used under extreme climatic conditions.

While wood was still burnt in the Dresdner Hütte a year ago, today over 30m² of XL solar collector panels support the daily hot water needs of up to 140 guests, day trippers, mountain climbers and skiers.
